Wendarius Harris wanted for questioning in deadly Augusta shooting
AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a 23-year-old man wanted for questioning in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday night at the intersection of Riverfront Drive and Prep Phillips Drive.
According to investigators, Wendarius Harris is being sought for questioning in the homicide, which claimed the life of 26-year-old Zyshawn Franklin, of Augusta.
The incident took place around 8:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Riverfront Drive, near the Augusta Boathouse, during what deputies described as a large, unpermitted gathering.
Responding deputies located Franklin at the scene suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m., according to the Richmond County Coroner’s Office.
Two additional victims sustained gunshot injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions have not been released.
Authorities describe Harris as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 155 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
He is known to frequent the East Boundary area of Augusta and Batesburg, South Carolina, according to officials.
An autopsy for Franklin is pending.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of Wendarius Harris to come forward.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
