Woman shot and killed by DPS trooper in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ — A woman died Friday afternoon, April 4, after being shot by an Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper during an encounter along Interstate 10 in Tucson.
According to a statement from DPS, the incident occurred around 12:00 p.m. when a state trooper observed a female pedestrian walking along the shoulder of westbound I-10 near Park Avenue.
The trooper exited his vehicle in an attempt to make contact with the woman.
DPS reported that during this interaction, an altercation occurred, which ultimately led to a trooper-involved shooting.
The trooper, who was not injured in the encounter, immediately rendered first aid to the woman at the scene.
The woman was then transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Major Incident Division has taken over the investigation.
As of now, the woman’s identity has not been released, and the circumstances surrounding the altercation remain under review.
Officials say additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
