Police capture escaped inmate Corey Boyd in New Orleans, 5 others still at large

SLIDELL, La. — A significant law enforcement operation is underway in the Kingspoint neighborhood of Slidell, Louisiana, as authorities search for one of the inmates who recently escaped from the Orleans Justice Center.
According to multiple law enforcement sources, the large police presence is connected to the ongoing manhunt for Corey Boyd, one of six fugitives still at large following the recent jail escape in New Orleans.
Residents in the Old Kingspoint area reported seeing a heavy deployment of law enforcement vehicles and tactical units.
The Louisiana State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and SWAT teams have reportedly surrounded a residence believed to be connected to Boyd.
Boyd, who was awaiting trial in connection to a fatal shooting during a car burglary in 2024, is considered armed and dangerous.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
