Update: Individual in custody.

BEVERLY, MA — A large-scale law enforcement response is underway in Beverly as SWAT teams, along with state police, respond to an active standoff situation.

The Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) has been activated, and its SWAT unit has been deployed to the scene.

The incident is believed to be occurring at or near Garden City, specifically in the area of Rantoul Street, where multiple apartment buildings are located.

Law enforcement has advised that emergency and armored vehicles will be visible heading into Beverly as the situation unfolds.

Authorities have confirmed that this incident is unrelated to the ongoing search and vehicle pursuit earlier today for a murder suspect on the North Shore.

The Danvers Police Department, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police, the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, K9 units, and aerial support, is actively searching for three suspects who fled on foot following a motor vehicle pursuit that began earlier today in Saugus.

The vehicle was later seen in the area of Mello Parkway, where multiple individuals exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

The suspects are described as follows: a black male wearing a white shirt; a white male with dreadlocks, dressed in all black; a female (race unknown) wearing all black with a pink backpack.

These individuals are wanted for questioning in connection to an incident that occurred in Lynn. It should be noted that these individuals are NOT suspects of a homicide investigation.

Further details, including the nature of the standoff or whether any individuals are armed or barricaded inside a residence, have not yet been released.

Residents in the vicinity are advised to remain indoors and avoid the area until further notice.

This is a developing situation.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available from official sources.
