20-Year-Old Mileena Brown Shot and Killed During Street Dispute in Greater Grand Crossing

CHICAGO, Ill. — A young woman was shot and killed early Thursday morning during a street altercation in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, according to police.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Mileena Brown, was fatally shot in the 7800 block of South Eberhart Avenue.

The incident occurred shortly before 1:15 a.m. on May 15, 2025.

According to the Chicago Police Department, Brown was engaged in an argument with a group of women on the street when an unidentified male approached the scene and opened fire.

Brown was struck twice by gunfire.

Emergency responders transported her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported during the incident. The suspect fled the scene, and no arrests have been made at this time.

The shooter remains at large.

Area Two detectives are actively investigating the case.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
