39-year-old Jarvis Curtis found dead after shooting at Freedom Park in Macon

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has launched a death investigation following a fatal shooting that occurred late Monday night, May 12, at Freedom Park, located in the 3300 block of Roff Avenue.

Deputies were dispatched to the park shortly after 11:30 p.m. in response to reports of a person down near the lake.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.

The victim, later identified as 39-year-old Jarvis Kentral Curtis of Macon, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.

According to the Coroner’s Office, Curtis’s next of kin has been notified.

His body will be transported for an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

At this time, investigators are working to establish the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

No suspects have been named, and no arrests have been made.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
