Beaumont Police Arrest Travon Alexander in Fatal Shooting of Joel Jenkins Following Dominoes Dispute

Beaumont, TX — A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following a deadly shooting that reportedly stemmed from an argument during a dominoes game, according to Officer Haley Morrow of the Beaumont Police Department.

The suspect, identified as Travon Alexander, was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Joel Jenkins.

The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the 1400 block of Prairie Avenue, located off Avenue A in Beaumont.

According to police, officers responded to reports of a shooting at the scene and located the victim with gunshot wounds.

Jenkins was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.

“Through witness statements and rapid investigative efforts, detectives were able to identify and arrest 30-year-old Travon Alexander for the shooting,” Beaumont Police said in an official statement.

Following his arrest, Alexander was interviewed by detectives and later transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he remains in custody.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
