Former Security Guard Jesse Figueroa Charged with Murder in Deadly Shooting at Spartan College in Inglewood

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — A former security guard has been formally charged in connection with a deadly workplace shooting that took place on May 2, 2025, at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Inglewood.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that 40-year-old Jesse Figueroa faces charges of murder and attempted murder following the incident, which left one school administrator dead and another employee injured.

Authorities say the shooting occurred around 3:45 p.m. inside an office on the campus located at 8911 Aviation Boulevard.

Figueroa, a former security guard employed at the college, allegedly entered the building wearing a security uniform and opened fire on two staff members.

One of the victims was identified as Dr. Cameisha Clark, the college’s Dean of Student Affairs.

Dr. Clark sustained critical injuries and was later pronounced dead.

The second victim, another staff member, survived the shooting but suffered significant injuries. Their condition has not been publicly disclosed.

Dr. Clark was a highly respected academic and administrator. A proud three-time alumna of Clark Atlanta University, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2011, a Master of Social Work in 2013, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2020.

During her undergraduate years, she served as a cheerleader from 2007 to 2010 and was crowned Miss Mays at Benjamin E. Mays High School in Atlanta during the 2006–2007 school year.

Following the shooting, law enforcement quickly identified Figueroa as the suspect due to his prior employment with the college.

Authorities also had a description of the vehicle he was driving.

That vehicle was later located in Los Angeles’ Koreatown neighborhood, where Figueroa was taken into custody without further incident.

Investigators have not released a clear motive behind the shooting, and the circumstances leading up to the act remain under investigation.

Figueroa is currently in custody and awaiting arraignment. He faces one count of murder, one count of attempted murder, and additional possible firearm-related charges.

The campus remains closed while authorities continue to process the scene and conduct interviews.

The Inglewood Police Department, along with the District Attorney’s Office, urges anyone with information about the case to come forward.

Dr. Cameisha Clark’s death is being mourned deeply by her students, colleagues, and alma mater, where she left a lasting legacy of leadership, compassion, and service.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
