Christopher Skinner killed after shooting near Gulfport restaurant on Cinco de Mayo

GULFPORT, Miss. — The Gulfport Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on May 5, in the parking lot of Azteca’s Restaurant & Cantina, located along Highway 49.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded at approximately 9:36 p.m., during Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
A verbal altercation escalated into gunfire, resulting in the death of 34-year-old Christopher Skinner of Gulfport.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer confirmed that Skinner sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Responding officers immediately rendered medical aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital.
Despite life-saving efforts, Skinner succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
At this time, it is unclear if any suspects have been identified or taken into custody.
Investigators continue to gather information and review evidence from the scene.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
