2-month-old Kayson Flowers dies from child abuse in Roseland

CHICAGO, IL — Authorities have confirmed that the death of a 2-month-old infant in the Roseland neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side is being investigated as a homicide, following autopsy results released Tuesday afternoon.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Kayson A. Flowers.

According to the autopsy, the infant died as a result of multiple injuries consistent with child abuse. His death has been officially ruled a homicide.

Kayson was found unresponsive at his residence in the 200 block of West 106th Street around 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Family members transported him to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Chicago Police confirmed that detectives are actively conducting a death investigation.

As of Tuesday evening, no arrests had been announced, and authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the child’s injuries or potential suspects.

The Chicago Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is assisting in the ongoing investigation.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
