Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of 63-Year-Old in Velda City

VELDA CITY, Mo. — A man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 63-year-old Robert Lee Prince Jr., who was killed outside a residence on Lexington Avenue in Velda City on Thursday afternoon.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. Police responded to the scene and later called in the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis to assist in the investigation.
Through their efforts, investigators quickly identified a person of interest.
By Friday afternoon, formal charges were filed against 31-year-old Terrell T. Mays.
He now faces charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and tampering with physical evidence.
Investigators stated that Mays and Prince were known to one another and that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between the two men.
Specific details about the nature of their dispute have not yet been released.
Mays is currently in custody as the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities have not yet disclosed if additional arrests or charges are expected.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
