Kansas City Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old Dewayne Toombs

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department (KCPD) is conducting a homicide investigation following a fatal shooting late Tuesday night, March 26, 2025.
Officers responded to a 911 call just after 10 p.m. regarding a shooting in the North Bennington Avenue and NE 38th Street area.
Upon arrival, they were directed to an apartment building, where they found 19-year-old Dewayne Toombs suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported Toombs to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after 11:30 p.m.
Authorities have not identified a suspect, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading to the shooting.
The homicide investigation remains active and ongoing.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
