Laurinburg Police Searching for Armed 16-Year-Old Henry Anderson in Shooting of Mother and Toddler

LAURINBURG, NC – Authorities are actively searching for 16-year-old Henry Anderson, who is wanted in connection with a violent shooting that left a 23-year-old mother injured and her 2-year-old child in critical condition.
The Laurinburg Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in the 400 block of Hood Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds—identified as Chavonda Jones, 23, and her 2-year-old child.


Both victims were transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Jones was treated and later released, while her child was airlifted to another medical facility, where they remain in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Jones and her child were sitting inside their vehicle when a red-colored vehicle approached.
A passenger inside the vehicle opened fire, striking both victims, as well as their vehicle and nearby apartments.
Authorities later recovered the suspect vehicle abandoned. Following further investigation, warrants were obtained for Henry Anderson, 16, of 20241 Blakely Road, Laurinburg, NC.
Anderson has been charged with:
- Two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder
- Three counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Property
- Discharging a Firearm in City Limits
- Possession of a Firearm by a Minor
The release of Anderson’s information complies with North Carolina General Statute 7B-3103, which permits the disclosure of certain juvenile offender details in cases of serious violent crimes.
Henry Anderson is considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities strongly urge the public not to approach him if spotted. Instead, anyone with information on his whereabouts should immediately contact 911.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
