14-Year-Old Student Arrested for Bringing Gun to Hillsboro High School in Nashville

A freshman student at Hillsboro High School was taken into custody on Friday morning after being found in possession of a firearm.
According to Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), a student tip alerted administrators to the presence of the weapon.
Upon searching the 14-year-old student’s belongings, school officials discovered a firearm in his bag.
While there is no evidence suggesting that the student intended to use the weapon on campus, the school was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure while the building was thoroughly searched.
The lockdown was subsequently lifted.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has charged the student with carrying a weapon on school property. The student reportedly stated that they obtained the firearm from a drawer at home.
Tennessee Representative John Ray Clemmons expressed his frustration and concern regarding the incident on X, stating, “It’s a terrible day for any parent when their child’s school goes into lockdown due to a firearm. I’m sick and tired of this nonsense. The majority of Tennesseans feel the same way. We must take decisive action to protect our children and families.”
