Woman Fatally Shot in Grand Crossing, Suspect in Custody

Chicago, IL – A 35-year-old woman, identified as Crystal Carter, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of February 23, 2025, in the 7600 block of South Ingleside Avenue, located in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the city’s South Side.
According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), officers responded to a well-being check at an apartment in the area.
Upon arrival, they discovered Carter unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A male suspect was taken into custody at the location.
Officers also recovered a handgun in connection with the incident.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity or potential charges.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
