Her 8-year-old son, Tristan Gaters, was abducted but located safely shortly after. Authorities have announced a news conference to provide further details.

Marcus A. Bausley, the subject of an Amber Alert and a suspect in a fatal stabbing and two attempted murders in Chicago, has been captured on Interstate 65 in Indiana, authorities confirmed.

Bausley, 39, was taken into custody by the Indiana State Police and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office after a pursuit.

At the conclusion of the chase, he sustained a self-inflicted stab wound to the chest in an apparent attempt to take his own life and evade arrest.

However, he survived the injury and was taken into custody.

Bausley was wanted in connection with a violent domestic incident on Chicago’s South Side, where a 33-year-old woman was fatally stabbed, and her 11-year-old son was critically injured.

Authorities responded to a residence on the 7100 block of South Eberhart Avenue around 6:55 p.m. Thursday, where they found Teone Jones, 33, suffering from multiple stab wounds to her back and abdomen.

She was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Shortly afterward, around 8:10 p.m., Chicago Police were called to the 200 block of West 66th Street in Englewood after reports of a child being stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Jones’ 11-year-old son with multiple stab wounds to the chest.

He was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

The incident prompted an Amber Alert when Jones’ 8-year-old son, Tristan Gaters, was reported missing.

He was later found safe, and the alert was canceled.

Chicago Area One Detectives continue to investigate the sequence of events leading to the stabbings and abduction.

Authorities have urged anyone with information to submit anonymous tips through cpdtip.org or call Chicago Police Department’s homicide unit at (513) 352-3542.

Police are expected to hold a press conference soon to provide further updates on the case.
