Saginaw Police Investigate City’s Third Homicide of 2025

Saginaw, MI – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man on Sunday afternoon, marking the city’s third homicide of the year.
The Saginaw Police Department (SPD) responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 1:15 p.m. on February 9, 2025, in the 2000 block of Stone Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as Taylor Burton, 20, of Saginaw, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported Burton to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
As of Monday morning, authorities have not announced any arrests or publicly identified a suspect.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
