Fatal Shooting in Leesville Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

One of the victims, identified as 30-year-old Trevon Hairston of Leesville, succumbed to his injuries.

Leesville, LA – Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, February 9, 2025, on South 5th Street.

According to the Leesville Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire just after midnight outside a local business.

Preliminary findings indicate that the shooting stemmed from an altercation involving multiple individuals in a parking lot.

During the confrontation, an unidentified suspect produced a firearm and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Emergency responders transported three victims to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, identified as 30-year-old Trevon Hairston of Leesville, succumbed to his injuries.

The other two victims required advanced medical care and were transferred to separate hospitals for further treatment.

Their conditions have not been disclosed.

Leesville Police Chief Beth Westlake expressed gratitude to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, New Llano Police Department, and Louisiana State Police for their assistance in securing the scene and supporting the ongoing investigation.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
