30-year-old Shakhar Chapagai killed in New Albany mass shooting

NEW ALBANY, Ohio — Authorities have identified one of the two victims who died following a workplace shooting at the KDC/One facility in New Albany.
According to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, 30-year-old Shakhar Chapagai was pronounced dead at 10:33 p.m. Wednesday at a hospital in Columbus.
The identity of the second deceased victim—who was found dead at the scene when law enforcement arrived—has not yet been released.
The shooting occurred late Tuesday night at the KDC/One warehouse, located in an industrial area of New Albany within Licking County.
A total of six people were shot during the attack.
Authorities state that the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Bruce Reginald Foster III, was an employee at the facility.

Reports indicate that he had been working for several hours before he suddenly opened fire. Foster then fled the scene using a rideshare vehicle.
Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting. Police noted that there were no signs of an argument or unusual behavior before the attack.
Due to the regular noise levels inside the warehouse, some employees were unaware of the shooting until law enforcement arrived.
At the time of the incident, approximately 150 employees were inside the facility.
Following an extensive search, Bruce Reginald Foster III was apprehended 12 hours later in the Weinland Park neighborhood of Columbus, just south of The Ohio State University campus.
Foster has been charged with one count of aggravated murder and is scheduled to appear in Licking County Common Pleas Court in Newark at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.
Authorities have not yet provided updates on the conditions of the surviving victims.
Law enforcement officials, including local police and federal agencies, continue to investigate the shooting. Further details will be released as they become available.
