Father fatally run over by a vehicle outside bar in Sacramento County, son facing murder charges

Sacramento, CA – Authorities have released new details regarding a violent altercation outside a Sacramento County bar that resulted in a man being fatally run over by a vehicle and his son facing murder charges.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a shooting around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday in the 4500 block of Auburn Boulevard.
Upon arrival, they discovered a man lying on the ground under a vehicle that had apparently struck him. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
Investigators determined that the deceased individual, identified as Oscar Alferez Sr., had been involved in an altercation that began inside the bar and escalated into the parking lot.
The initial dispute reportedly involved Alferez Sr.’s son, 33-year-old Oscar Alferez Jr., and the driver of the vehicle.
The confrontation quickly involved several other individuals.
During the physical altercation, Alferez Sr. allegedly brandished a firearm and threatened the driver. However, he was overpowered and disarmed.
Deputies said that Alferez Jr. subsequently retrieved the firearm and fired shots at the driver’s vehicle.
The gunfire reportedly prompted the driver to accelerate, unintentionally running over Alferez Sr.
Alferez Sr. was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following the investigation, warrants were issued for murder and attempted murder against Alferez Jr.
He was taken into custody and booked into the Sacramento County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
