A fatal shooting in central Lubbock on Saturday afternoon has left Julian Hernandez, 17, dead, according to the Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit.

At approximately 4:38 p.m., Lubbock Police Department (LPD) officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex located in the 1100 block of 58th Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Hernandez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported Hernandez to University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving efforts.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Hernandez was engaged in a drug purchase at the time of the incident. Police state that Hernandez was robbed while inside a vehicle during the attempted transaction.
As Hernandez attempted to flee the vehicle on foot, he was shot multiple times.
No arrests have been made as of now. Law enforcement continues to work diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
