According to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook, Jalea Darea was declared brain-dead on Wednesday afternoon following the incident. An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday to determine the exact cause of death.

According to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook, Jalea Turner was declared brain-dead on Wednesday afternoon following the incident. An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday to determine the exact cause of death.

The shooting occurred just after 12:30 a.m. on January 1 in the 900 block of West 19th Street.

In addition to Jalea, a 19-year-old man was also injured during the attack, sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg. He was treated at a local hospital and has since been released.

No arrests have been made, and the Erie Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the case.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
