A Flint man, Malik Letroy Webb, 29, has been charged with 19 felony counts, including felony murder, for a violent shooting incident on Christmas Eve in Oxford, Michigan. The attack left Dr. Barbara Wolf, a prominent community member, dead and two others injured.

The incident occurred on the evening of December 24, 2024, near Ray Road and North Oxford Road.

Dr. Barbara Wolf, 67, stopped to assist Webb after his car slid into a ditch. Tragically, her altruism was met with violence when Webb allegedly opened fire, fatally wounding Dr. Wolf.

Dr. Wolf’s 38-year-old daughter, a passenger in her vehicle, was also shot and remains hospitalized in serious condition.

A 56-year-old Oxford man, who had also stopped to help, was shot in the arm and has since been treated and released.

A 39-year-old woman from Oxford Township was held at gunpoint during a failed carjacking attempt by Webb.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard expressed deep frustration over the incident, stating:

“This violent and heinous act is tragic on every level. This is yet another case where a convicted felon with prior weapons charges was allowed back into the community to harm others. This senseless murder could have been prevented.”

Webb, a convicted felon, faces the following charges:

  • Felony Murder (carjacking as the underlying felony)
  • Three Counts of Assault with Intent to Murder
  • Three Counts of Felonious Assault
  • Carjacking
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person
  • Nine Counts of Felony Firearm Possession (Third Offense)

If convicted of felony murder, Webb faces mandatory life imprisonment without parole.

Webb was arraigned in Novi’s 52-1 District Court and is currently being held without bond.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with additional details about the incident to come forward.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by Good Samaritans and underscores the importance of ensuring convicted felons are held accountable to prevent further harm.
