On the evening of December 23, 2024, Katy Police responded to reports of gunfire inside Katy Mills Mall at approximately 5:21 PM.
Officers arrived promptly, secured the scene, and ensured the safety of patrons and staff.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Two suspects, one adult male and one juvenile male, were identified and arrested shortly after fleeing the scene.
Authorities stated that 18-year-old Noah Aaron Chavez, along with an unidentified minor, have both confessed to their involvement in the shooting incident.
Both individuals have been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
