35-year-old Joseph Jones killed in Danville shooting
Danville, IL – Authorities have identified 35-year-old Joseph Jones of Champaign as the victim of a fatal shooting in Danville late Saturday night.
Danville police officers responded to the intersection of Collett and Williams Streets around 11 p.m. after receiving a report of a “subject lying on the ground.”
Simultaneously, officers in the vicinity reported hearing gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, police discovered an unresponsive male with multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers immediately initiated life-saving measures until emergency medical services (EMS) arrived. Despite their efforts, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Vermilion County Coroner confirmed Jones’ identity as the victim of the shooting.
The Illinois State Police were called in to assist the Danville Police Department with the ongoing crime scene investigation.
Authorities have released limited information about the incident at this time.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
