A second 17-year-old male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the face.

Erie police are conducting an active investigation into a shooting that left one teenage boy dead and another critically injured near West 31st and Liberty Streets on Tuesday afternoon.
The Erie County Coroner, Lyell Cook, confirmed that 17-year-old Armoni Cantu was transported to Saint Vincent Hospital by private vehicle.
Despite efforts by medical staff, he was pronounced dead at 4:47 p.m. while undergoing treatment.
A second 17-year-old male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the face.
Authorities have reported that his injuries are severe, and he remains in critical condition.
The shooting has left residents of the typically quiet neighborhood in shock. Long-time City of Erie resident Vahid Ferhatovic, who previously lived in the area, expressed disbelief over the incident.
“I grew up right down the street from there, and I’ve never seen crime, never seen burglary, never seen really anything happen down there. It was a peaceful neighborhood—we used to call it the suburbs of Erie,” Ferhatovic said.
At this time, no suspects have been taken into custody. However, Erie police have executed several search warrants as part of their investigation.
They are working to piece together the circumstances that led to the shooting and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Law enforcement officials are asking for the public’s assistance in solving this case. Anyone with information related to the shooting is encouraged to contact the Erie Police Department.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the impact of gun violence and has shaken a community that has long been considered a safe and peaceful place to live.
