CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man was shot and killed Friday evening in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the city’s West Side, according to Chicago police.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:16 p.m. in the 3800 block of West Adams Street.

Police reported that the victim, identified as 28-year-old Cordero, was a passenger in a vehicle when he was struck by gunfire.

The man sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Authorities have not yet taken any suspects into custody, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are pursuing all available leads.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
