Reports emerged of a shooting at Feather River Adventist School. Staff were seen gathering children into the cafeteria for safety. Emergency personnel mentioned two children, though it was unclear whether this referred to victims or other circumstances.

Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) confirmed that the scene was secure. California Highway Patrol (CHP) helicopter H20 was dispatched to the location, and an air ambulance was ordered. Preparations for a Landing Zone (LZ) at the back of the school were underway.

Two air medical helicopters were requested to assist in transporting potential victims.

The request for a second air ambulance was canceled. One patient was transported to Rideout Hospital under Code 3 conditions (lights and sirens), indicating a critical situation.

Reports from CHP indicated that the suspected shooter had shot himself.

The second air ambulance, Reach 6, was dispatched but later redirected.

Enloe FlightCare confirmed an estimated time of arrival (ETA) of 1:41 PM at the school.

Enloe FlightCare arrived on the scene. CHP’s helicopter, H24, began aerial surveillance, preparing to expand its search beyond the school into adjacent orchards and surrounding areas to ensure no additional threats were present.

H24 completed its initial surveillance around the school and moved to investigate a secondary location. It later returned to perform a more extensive sweep of nearby orchards and the vicinity of Cox Lane.

Law enforcement identified 9 mm ammunition at the scene, confirming the caliber of the bullets involved in the incident.

Authorities began shutting down traffic in the area to control the situation. Lone Tree and Cox Lane, along with Powerhouse Hill Road, were closed, halting southbound traffic to Highway 70.

School buses were dispatched to transport children away from the scene to a secure location.

Parents were instructed to reunite with their children at the Church of the Nazarene. No specific address for the church was provided in the initial communications.

Meanwhile, Cal Fire and medics remained staged at a safe distance from the school until deputies confirmed it was secure for emergency responders to enter.

The situation appears to have been resolved with the shooter reportedly taking their own life.

Emergency medical teams are attending to victims, and at least one individual has been transported to a hospital under critical conditions.

Law enforcement continues to investigate the motive behind the incident and secure the surrounding area.

Parents and guardians are urged to follow law enforcement instructions for reunification with their children and to avoid entering the restricted zones.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety of the children, staff, and community members while addressing the aftermath of this tragic incident.
