16-year-old Alexis Wise and 21-year-old Joshua Parsons found shot to death in car outside vacant Birmingham house

A tragic discovery unfolded Tuesday night in Birmingham as two individuals were found shot to death inside a vehicle in a neighborhood on Princeton Avenue S.W.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 16-year-old Alexis Elizabeth Wise and 21-year-old Joshua Wayne Parsons, both residents of Hueytown.
Birmingham police responded to a 10:29 p.m. call about a vehicle that had come to a stop on the sidewalk outside an abandoned house in the 1300 block of Princeton Avenue S.W.
A passerby noticed that the car, with multiple bullet holes, had been moving slowly in reverse before halting on the sidewalk in front of two vacant houses.
Officers approached the sedan to find both Wise and Parsons unresponsive inside.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced them dead at the scene at 10:47 p.m.
Although no gunfire was reported by neighbors, preliminary indications suggest the shots may have been fired from within the vehicle, according to Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin.
This incident marks the second teen shooting fatality in Birmingham this week.
Also on Tuesday, 17-year-old Gerald Andre Lomax Jr., a senior at Jackson-Olin High School, was shot and later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
