2 Shot at Cardinal Ritter High School in Indianapolis After Fight Between Parents and Coaches Escalates to Gunfire
A dispute that erupted after a youth football game at Cardinal Ritter High School on Saturday night resulted in a shooting.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to the school around 10:18 PM after receiving reports of multiple individuals being shot.
While initial reports suggested children were involved, further investigation revealed that only two adult males had been injured.
One victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, while the other was deemed stable.
Police determined that the shooting stemmed from an argument that arose in the school’s parking lot following the conclusion of the football game.
According to IMPD Night Watch Captain Rob Rider, the argument escalated between parents and coaches from opposing teams, leading to one individual opening fire.
As of midnight Sunday, IMPD had not made any arrests or identified any persons of interest.
The ages of the youth participants in the game were not immediately available, but Rider confirmed they were below the age of teenagers and not high school students.
The incident was unrelated to Cardinal Ritter High School, and none of the school’s personnel were involved or present at the time of the shooting.
Captain Rider expressed deep sadness over the tragic outcome, emphasizing that families and children should be able to enjoy sporting events without fear of violence.
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
