16-year-old Carlie Frizzell dies after shooting in Hilltop neighborhood
A suspect, known to the victim, has been identified.

Columbus Police have released the identity of the 16-year-old girl who was tragically killed in an accidental shooting on Wednesday night. Carlie Frizzell was fatally shot in the Hilltop neighborhood.
Officers responded to the scene in the 500 block of South Eureka Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, they found Frizzell suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center.
According to Sergeant Joe Albert, the 911 caller reported that the girl had accidentally shot herself.
In an update released on Thursday, police announced that a suspect, known to the victim, has been identified.
However, the suspect’s name is being withheld pending further investigation and presentation to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting was the result of an unintentional discharge of a firearm.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
