Authorities have identified the young child killed in a devastating hit-and-run crash in southwest Houston as 2-year-old Egypt.

The fatal incident occurred in the 3400 block of Ocee Street and is now under active investigation by the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division and Midwest Patrol officers.

According to Egypt’s grieving mother, the tragedy unfolded quickly and without warning.

When the child was struck, an ambulance was called, but in a desperate effort to save her life, Egypt’s mother decided to drive her daughter to the hospital herself.

Egypt’s father administered CPR in the vehicle during the frantic drive.

Despite their heroic and heartbreaking efforts, Egypt was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“She was my world. My everything,” her mother shared in an emotional statement.

Family and friends described Egypt as vibrant, intelligent, and full of joy—a little girl with a bright spirit and loving nature whose life was cut far too short.

The suspect responsible for the crash fled the scene and has not yet been identified.

However, authorities confirm that the apartment complex near where the incident took place is equipped with surveillance cameras.

Investigators are currently reviewing footage in hopes of obtaining critical evidence that will lead to an arrest.

The community is mourning the loss of a child whose life held so much promise.

As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information related to the crash to come forward.

We extend our deepest condolences to Egypt’s family as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

Additional updates will be shared as soon as new information becomes available.
