23-year-old Bradley Blunt killed in Hammond shooting, suspect Janvourian Franklin charged

HAMMOND, La. — A deadly shooting early Monday morning in Hammond has left one man dead and two others injured, including a toddler, according to the Hammond Police Department.
The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on May 12, 2025, in the 1200 block of North Morrison Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims, identified as Bradley Blunt, 23, was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The other two victims—a juvenile and another adult—sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are currently in stable condition.
Following the shooting, investigators quickly identified Janvourian Franklin, 23, of Hammond, as the suspected gunman.
Police say Franklin was taken into custody after arriving at a nearby hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. His role in the incident remains under investigation.
In addition to Franklin’s arrest, authorities also arrested Demetriane Anderson, 20, who is identified as Franklin’s sister.
Detectives allege she played a supporting role in the crime.
Franklin faces multiple charges, including:
- One count of first-degree murder
- Three counts of attempted first-degree murder
- Illegal discharge of a firearm
Anderson is charged with:
- One count of principal to first-degree murder
- Three counts of principal to attempted first-degree murder
The Hammond Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
