Jordan Tyrik Johnson arrested in deadly shooting of 34-Year-Old Christopher Skinner in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. – The Gulfport Police Department has announced the arrest of Jordan Tyrik Johnson, 25, in connection with the fatal shooting of Christopher Skinner, 34, that occurred during a crowded Cinco de Mayo celebration at a local Mexican restaurant.

Authorities say Johnson turned himself in to Gulfport Police at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10, and was formally booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday.

He is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

The deadly shooting took place on the evening of Sunday, May 5, at Azteca’s Restaurant & Cantina, located on Highway 49.

Police reported that hundreds of patrons were gathered both inside and outside the establishment for the holiday celebration when the violence unfolded at approximately 9:36 p.m.

According to investigators, Johnson and Skinner became involved in an altercation that escalated rapidly.

During the confrontation, Johnson allegedly fired multiple rounds at Skinner, striking him several times.

Responding officers immediately rendered aid to the victim on scene before he was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

Following the incident, Johnson remained at large until his voluntary surrender.

The Gulfport Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
