22-year-old Micah Ledbetter killed in Cape Girardeau shooting
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Friday afternoon, May 9, in the vicinity of Whitener and Louisiana Streets.
According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, two individuals were injured in the incident. One victim arrived at a local hospital by private vehicle, while the other was transported from the scene by ambulance.
The victim transported by ambulance, identified as 22-year-old Micah Ledbetter of Cape Girardeau, succumbed to her injuries while being treated in the emergency room.
A second individual suffered what authorities described as a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg and is currently receiving medical treatment at an area hospital.
In response to the incident, the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad has been activated to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Police have not released any information regarding a suspect or motive at this time.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
