19-year-old Zephaniah Thompson killed after shooting on Holden Street in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday, May 7, in the 300 block of Holden Street, near Segura Avenue.
Officers responded to the scene where they discovered a 19-year-old male, identified as Zephaniah Thompson, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
During a sweep of the area, investigators recovered an assault rifle a short distance from where the victim was found.
It remains unclear at this time whether the weapon is directly connected to the incident.
No suspect information has been released, and no arrests have been made.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has relevant information to come forward.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
