36-Year-Old Donte Maurice Vanclief Killed After Shooting at Barton’s Landing in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – On Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 10:22 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 600 block of Barton’s Landing Place, a gated condominium community off Cliffdale Road.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

Emergency medical personnel were immediately dispatched, and the victim—later identified as 36-year-old Donte Maurice Vanclief of Fayetteville—was transported to a nearby hospital.

Despite medical efforts, Vanclief succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

A disturbing video circulating on social media appears to show a man calmly walking around the complex while holding a rifle-style weapon in the moments following the shooting.

The footage, recorded by a resident, captures the panic and confusion as neighbors watched in fear from their homes.

The individual seen in the video was eventually taken into custody at the scene.

However, police have not publicly identified the suspect, and no formal charges have been announced at this time.

Authorities confirmed that all individuals directly involved in the incident are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

There is currently no active threat to the community.

The Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively leading the investigation.

Detectives are working to determine the sequence of events leading up to the shooting and to confirm the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
