19-year-old Josiah Slocum killed in Montgomery shooting
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Montgomery Police have launched a homicide investigation following a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man early Saturday morning.
According to a statement from the Montgomery Police Department, officers were dispatched to a local hospital at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, in response to a report of a gunshot victim.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that the victim had succumbed to injuries sustained from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
On Monday, authorities publicly identified the victim as Josiah Slocum, 19, a resident of Montgomery.
Preliminary findings indicate that the shooting occurred in the area of Davis Drive, though police have not disclosed the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
No suspects have been named, and no arrests have been made at this time.
The Montgomery Police Department continues to actively investigate the case.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
