17-year-old Charles Sanders killed in Northland neighborhood shooting

Kansas City police have identified the teenager who was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon in a Northland neighborhood.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting near NE 75th Court and North Chas Drive, where they located 17-year-old Charles Sanders lying in the front yard of a residence.
Emergency responders transported Sanders to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to investigators, preliminary findings suggest that Sanders had an encounter with “one or more suspects” prior to the shooting.
During the interaction, shots were fired, resulting in Sanders being struck.
Security camera footage from the neighborhood captured portions of the incident.
The video reportedly shows a man wearing a white hoodie standing over Sanders immediately after the shooting.
Neighbors described rushing to aid Sanders following the gunfire.
One resident performed CPR in an effort to save him until emergency personnel arrived on scene.
Additional witnesses reported seeing two teenagers fleeing the area immediately after the shooting.
As of Thursday, no arrests have been made.
Authorities are continuing to investigate and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
