16-year-old Jayden Reid killed in Rock Hill gas station shooting, suspect Carnell Mike charged with murder

ROCK HILL, SC – A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed late Tuesday night at a gas station in Rock Hill, prompting a swift response and investigation by local law enforcement.

According to the Rock Hill Police Department, officers were dispatched to the QuikTrip located on South Cherry Road just before 11:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was immediately transported to Piedmont Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

On Wednesday afternoon, the York County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jayden Reid, a resident of Chester, South Carolina.

Through the course of their investigation, detectives identified 17-year-old Carnell Mike as the suspect in the fatal shooting.

Mike was apprehended in Richburg, South Carolina, and later transported to the Rock Hill jail.

He now faces multiple charges, including murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18. Authorities confirmed that Mike is being charged as an adult in this case.

The motive behind the shooting has not yet been publicly disclosed. Rock Hill Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
