Greenville Police Investigating Overnight Shooting That Injured Two Children

Greenville, N.C. — The Greenville Police Department is actively investigating an early morning shooting that left two young children injured after gunfire struck their residence while they were sleeping.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, officers responded to a report of shots fired at 900 A Masters Lane.
Upon arrival, they located a 7-year-old boy inside the apartment who had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the ankle.
The child was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
A 12-year-old boy in the same apartment also suffered a bullet graze wound, which was treated on scene by EMS personnel.
According to preliminary investigations, the children were asleep inside their home at the time of the incident, and the gunfire appears to have originated from outside the apartment.
Numerous shell casings were recovered from the scene, indicating multiple shots were fired. No other injuries were reported, and there was no damage found to nearby apartments.
At this time, police have not identified any suspects or established a clear motive.
“This was a senseless act of violence that endangered innocent children in the safety of their own home,” said Interim Chief of Police Richard Tyndall. “The Greenville Police Department will not tolerate this kind of reckless disregard for human life. We are fully committed to bringing those responsible to justice, and this case will remain a top priority for our investigators.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Greenville Police Department at 252-329-4300, or to submit anonymous tips through Pitt-Greenville Crimestoppers at 252-758-7777.
