Shalamar Davis Jr Killed, 20-Year-Old Injured in North Omaha Shooting
A 15-year-old boy was killed, and a 20-year-old man was injured following a shooting in north Omaha on Tuesday morning, March 26, 2024.
According to the Omaha Police Department (OPD), officers responded to reports of a shooting near 51st and Emmet Streets at approximately 10:28 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers located Shalamar Davis Jr., 15, and an unidentified 20-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds near 52nd and Pinkney Streets.
Emergency medical personnel transported Davis to a local hospital in extremely critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The 20-year-old victim was also transported to the hospital and remains in serious condition.
Officials from Omaha Public Schools (OPS) confirmed that Shalamar Davis Jr. was a sophomore at Burke High School.
In a letter to families, Burke High School Principal Darren Rasmussen expressed condolences, stating:
“We are saddened to share that one of our Burke High students, Shalamar Davis, a 10th grader, has died. We have been in contact with his family to share our heartfelt sympathy.”
At this time, police have not identified any suspects or released details regarding a possible motive.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
