Laterrika Woods, Sister of Memphis Rapper Big Boogie, Killed in High-Speed Police Chase in Arkansas
Hazen, Ark. — A high-speed police pursuit on eastbound Interstate 40 ended in a fatal crash on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, claiming the life of a 29-year-old Memphis woman.
According to the Arkansas State Police (ASP), the incident began when a state trooper observed a white Dodge Ram pickup committing a traffic violation near the 173-mile marker in Lonoke County.
When the trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver fled, initiating an 18-mile pursuit at speeds exceeding 120 mph.
The suspect vehicle continued recklessly, weaving through traffic and passing other motorists on the right shoulder, posing a significant danger to the public.
Near the 191-mile marker in Prairie County, ASP troopers executed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver to end the pursuit.
As a result, the pickup overturned and came to rest in a ditch along the interstate.
- Laterrika Woods, 29, of Memphis, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
- Latarica Walker, 26, of Memphis, was also ejected and airlifted to Baptist Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.
- Torkilo Hambrick, 30, also known as Kizzle Consistent, was identified as the driver. He and Zuri Jones, 45, both of Memphis, were transported to UAMS and are in stable condition.
ASP Colonel Mike Hagar condemned the suspect’s actions, emphasizing the dangers of fleeing from law enforcement.
“This tragedy is a direct result of the suspect’s reckless, selfish actions,” said Col. Hagar. “Fleeing suspects are terrorizing and traumatizing our communities. Our troopers will not and cannot look the other way.”
During the crash investigation, troopers recovered:
- Two firearms
- An undisclosed amount of U.S. currency
- A bottle of promethazine
- Marijuana and narcotics
Hambrick, the driver, was found to have an outstanding extradition warrant from Shelby County, Tennessee, for a probation violation and is a registered sex offender.
Authorities have confirmed that charges are pending against him in connection with Woods’ death.
The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory will conduct an autopsy to determine Woods’ official cause of death.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the incident.
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
