Las Cruces, NM – A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with the deadly mass shooting at Young Park on Friday night, March 21, 2025.

At approximately 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, Las Cruces police took a 15-year-old male into custody.

He has been charged with three open counts of murder, joining the three other suspects previously arrested in connection with the incident:

• Tomas Rivas-Hidalgo, 20
• Nathan Giovani Rivas, 17
• Gustavo Dominguez, 17

All four suspects are facing three open counts of murder, with additional charges expected as the investigation continues.

Tomas Rivas-Hidalgo has been booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center and is being held without bond.

Nathan Giovani Rivas, Gustavo Dominguez, and the 15-year-old suspect have all been remanded to juvenile detention facilities.

Authorities have confirmed the identities of the three victims who lost their lives in the shooting:

• Andrew Madrid, 16
• Jason Gomez, 18
• Dominick Estrada, 19

Madrid and Gomez were pronounced dead at the scene, while Estrada was transported to MountainView Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

In addition to the three fatalities, 15 other individuals—ranging in age from 16 to 36—sustained injuries.

Nine victims are male, and six are female. To protect their privacy, police have not released their names.

Las Cruces police have also confirmed that Gabriel Rickman is not involved in the shooting. He was interviewed by investigators and has been cleared of any connection to the incident.

Authorities addressed the circulation of an image showing a teenager holding what appeared to be an AR-style rifle.

Police clarified that there is no evidence linking that firearm to the crime scene.

A thorough analysis of ballistic evidence revealed that approximately 50 to 60 shell casings recovered at the scene were from handguns, with no casings matching an AR-style rifle.

During a Saturday morning news conference, LCPD Chief Jeremy Story confirmed that all shell casings found at the scene were from handguns.

He also stated that the individual depicted in a social media post holding an automatic rifle had been interviewed by police and is not a suspect.

Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, ATF, New Mexico State Police, the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, are actively investigating and following multiple leads.

The mass shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Young Park, located at 850 S. Walnut St. Las Cruces police and fire personnel responded to reports of gunfire and multiple gunshot victims in the park’s parking lot.

Several of the injured were transported to local hospitals, with seven victims later transferred to medical facilities in El Paso, Texas.

At this time, the current medical conditions of the surviving victims remain unknown.

As police continue their investigation, Young Park remains closed to the public.

Additionally, nearby roads remain closed to through traffic while law enforcement gathers evidence from the scene.
