Rochester, N.Y. – A 19-year-old suspect has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on the city’s west side earlier this week.

According to the Rochester Police Department, Dhymere Bailey, 19, was arrested on Friday morning for allegedly shooting and killing 39-year-old Sandra Blanding near a vacant lot on Spencer Street.

The homicide took place on Wednesday, prompting an intensive investigation by law enforcement.

Authorities report that Bailey attempted to flee when officers moved to apprehend him.

Upon his arrest, he was found in possession of a loaded handgun, which police believe was used in the fatal shooting.
