Man Taken into Custody Following Fatal Stabbing at Kansas City Apartment Complex
KANSAS CITY, MO – A man has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred late Wednesday night at an apartment complex in Kansas City, according to local authorities.
The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) reported that officers responded to an apartment in the 600 block of East Minor Drive at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they discovered two women suffering from stab wounds.
One of the victims, identified as Dayteonna Thompson, was found unresponsive with severe injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The second victim, identified as Thompson’s mother, sustained a stab wound to the chest.
Emergency responders transported her to the hospital, and she is expected to survive, according to KCPD.
Authorities quickly identified and apprehended a male suspect who was known to the victims.
He was taken into custody as a person of interest in the homicide investigation.
Social media posts suggest that the suspect was in a relationship with Thompson, though police have not yet confirmed the nature of their relationship.
The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with additional information to contact the Kansas City Police Department or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
