Scotlandville Magnet High School Student 17-year-old Anthony Robinson Killed in Shooting

Baton Rouge authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Anthony Robinson, a student at Scotlandville Magnet High School, who was killed Monday afternoon in the 1900 block of Bradfield Avenue near Scotland Avenue.

According to police, Robinson was shot just before 3 p.m. on March 10, shortly after stepping off a school bus.

Investigators believe the shooter, a 16-year-old suspect, was responsible for the attack.

The suspect was later apprehended with the assistance of East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) deputies and has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Juvenile Detention Center on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and illegal use of weapons.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) expressed its condolences in an official statement, mourning the loss of Robinson and pledging support for students and staff in the wake of this tragedy:

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic loss of one of our own, 17-year-old Anthony Robinson, who was taken from us due to senseless and unnecessary violence Monday afternoon.

This heartbreaking event has deeply impacted our school community. As we mourn this devastating loss, we want to assure you that the Baton Rouge Police Department is actively investigating and working to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Anthony’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time. To support our students and staff, I CARE counselors will be available on campus this week to provide guidance and comfort to anyone in need.

In times like these, it is important that we come together as a community, offering strength and support to one another. Let us lean on each other as we navigate this difficult moment together.”

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
