Officer-Involved Shooting Follows High-Speed Chase on Interstate 24 in Cadiz
Cadiz, KY – A high-speed chase on Interstate 24 Tuesday afternoon resulted in an officer-involved shooting in the Broadbent Square area of Cadiz, according to law enforcement officials.
The incident began when Kentucky State Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop around the 47-mile marker eastbound on Interstate 24.
The suspect refused to comply, accelerating to speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour before taking the Cadiz-Hopkinsville exit in an attempt to evade authorities.
The pursuit came to a violent end when the suspect crashed his vehicle on Broadbent Boulevard.
Upon exiting the wrecked vehicle, the individual opened fire on law enforcement officers, prompting officers to return fire.
Multiple agencies, including the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Cadiz Police Department, Hopkinsville Police Department, and additional law enforcement personnel, responded to the scene.
The Trigg County Coroner’s Office was also present, though officials have not yet confirmed any fatalities.
The Kentucky State Police have taken over the investigation and are expected to release further details as they become available.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the suspect’s identity or any potential charges.
Residents are urged to avoid the Broadbent Square area as the investigation remains active.
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
