Chicago Amber Alert Canceled: 8-year-old boy found safe, Woman stabbed to death
UPDATE: Marcus Bausley, 39, was arrested on February 21, 2025, on I-65 in Gary, IN, with a self-inflicted stab wound.
Chicago, IL – The Chicago Police Department (CPD) is actively investigating two separate stabbing incidents that occurred less than two miles apart on the city’s South Side Thursday evening, leaving one woman dead and an 11-year-old boy critically injured.
The first incident took place around 8:10 p.m. in the 200 block of West 66th Street in the Englewood neighborhood, near the Dan Ryan Expressway.
Officers responded to reports of a stabbing and arrived to find Chicago Fire Department paramedics treating an 11-year-old boy who had suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest.
He was immediately transported to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
This domestic violence-related attack led to an Amber Alert for a missing child, identified as Tristan Gaters.
Authorities have since confirmed that the child has been found safe, and the alert was canceled.
According to family members, the suspect in the stabbing of the 11-year-old is Marcus Bausley, the boyfriend of the child’s mother.
Earlier that evening, around 6:55 p.m., officers responded to another stabbing incident inside a residence located in the 7100 block of South Eberhart Avenue.
A 33-year-old woman, identified as Teone Jones, sustained multiple stab wounds, including injuries to her back and abdomen.
She was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the two incidents are connected. As of now, no suspects are in custody, and Area One Detectives continue to investigate.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
