1 killed, another injured after shooting outside Alabama Bar & Lounge in Mobile, suspect and victim identified

Mobile, AL — The Mobile Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 1, 2025.

At approximately 1:54 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot of the Alabama Bar & Lounge, located at 10071 Airport Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Shortly thereafter, a second victim, identified as 22-year-old Hunter Lins, arrived at a nearby hospital via personal vehicle, also sustaining a gunshot injury.

Later that morning, Lins succumbed to their injuries, prompting authorities to reclassify the investigation as a homicide.

During the course of the investigation, officers identified and located a suspect at the scene.

The individual, identified as 20-year-old Mathew Sanders, was taken into custody and transported to the Mobile County Metro Jail.

Sanders was initially charged with two counts of assault. However, following the confirmation of the victim’s death, one of the charges has been upgraded to murder.

The Mobile Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
